Timber workers want support for Forest Enterprises Australia

Timber workers have blamed the Tasmanian Government for being unsuccessful to prop up ailing timber company Forest Enterprises Australia.
Forest Enterprises Australia four cent shares have been delayed for two weeks, with the company fighting to re-organize its debt of $216-million.

Forest Enterprises Australia has informed the stock exchange its demand for financial assistance had been denied, but thanked the Government for its efforts.

The Economic Development Minister tells the government is continuing to work with Forest Enterprises Australia, and will provide support for workers.

Timber Communities Australia says that is not good enough.

Timber Communities Australia expect that the government can analyze that decision because Forest Enterprises Australia is a vitally valuable company to Tasmania's economy and it provides employment for regional communities throughout Tasmania.

Timber Communities Australia says the government has propped up many companies and Forest Enterprises Australia should be no different.

With the difficulties that our dairy industry was encountered with only last year and the lack of assistance that's been supplied to the farming community and we would hope that whoever is the new government after the election next weekend can examine visually at doing whatever it can to help this Tasmanian company.
